The Dr. Malathy Singh Visiting Fellowship is an academic year, full-time residential fellowship in the South Asian Studies Council, housed at The Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University. The Singh Fellowship provides an opportunity for scholars to be part of a world class area studies program at Yale University, where they undertake in-depth research with all the benefits from Yale’s resources.
Past fellows have undertaken a range of projects across a variety of fields including medieval history, anthropology, religious studies, literature, and political science. Fellows are expected to teach an undergraduate course during the fall and spring term. These courses have spanned topics ranging from the literature of migration in “Bombay-London-New York” to “Law and Politics in South Asia,” and form an important foundational teaching experience for our fellows. Meanwhile, social activities organized by the Council and the MacMillan Center create avenues for fellows to develop lifelong associations with fellow graduate students, faculty, and the larger Yale community.
